Showdown!
Oh, the day many have been waiting for since Stephen Colbert started his satiric flight more than a year ago is neigh. Next Thursday, January 18, 2007 (remember that date folks) Colbert will finally get to sit down face to face with the man he calls “Papa Bear” Bill O’Reilly.
They’re doing a nice double to appear in front of each other’s audiences. I’m pretty sure they don’t share a whole ton of regular viewers, so it is not to be missed. Now how O’Reilly reacts to Colbert’s over the top take on his style and views remains to be seen, as does how they each handle their respective outsized egos on each other’s home turf. I’m sure there will be plenty more to say next Friday, but for now I’ll be setting my VCR for this one.
Colbert shows up on The O’Reilly Factor at 7 p.m. on Fox News. Then O’Reilly’s appearance on The Colbert Report will happen at 10:30 p.m.
Oh yeah, Our Fine President is set to make his big “how I just know this plan is gonna be the one to win the war in Iraq” speech in less than an hour. More on that later.
